As an engineering manager, you will be responsible for the career growth and productivity of 4-7 engineers on one of our teams, as well as building and improving processes, setting technical priorities, and doing some firsthand technical work.

 

Responsibilities

  • Lead and motivate the team to produce our QTeam Member’s category changing products on time and with no defects.
  • Create a culture of engineering excellence where ideas flow and best practices are practices.
  • Grow a team of engineers at different levels of experience and help them maximize their careers by working on important areas of growth.
  • Teach your engineers to work in our fast-moving culture environment. To handle its inherent energy and stress swings and remain calm and even keeled with high productivity.
  • Inspire your team to develop innovative solutions to important, real-world problems in healthcare to adopt a team first approach.
  • Collaborate with the product team, engineering directors, and other team members to plan, prioritize, and execute on sprint initiatives.
  • Embrace and drive positive change in all things: in your team, in our products, in our processes, and in our engineering practices.
  • Participate in technical design and architecture discussions and reviews.
  • Deliver code alongside the team you are leading.
  • Foster proactive and collaborative relationships within the team.
  • Help us improve through better processes, engineering practices, and by asking hard questions and offering creative solutions.
  • Lead some of our agile processes like backlog grooming, card estimating, demos, sprint kick-offs.
  • Perform HR responsibilities like holding regular 1:1s and approving time off
  • Requirements
  • 4+ years of experience leading a team of engineers
  • 6+ years of experience as a software engineer with recent experience in C#
  • A desire to build an inclusive and diverse culture
  • History of designing and delivering software solutions to real world problems across a variety of technology stacks and programming languages with deep experience in several modern programming languages (e.g. JavaScript, Java, C#, Python)
  • Experience with agile development practices
  • Experienced in the development of highly mntnable and reliable code using practices such as unit testing, integration testing, proper code documentation, and appropriate logging
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of fundamentals engineering concepts
  • Knowledge of software and application design and architecture

  • Knowledge of software and application design and architecture
  • 8+ years of relevant programming experience, with a preference for
    • NodeJS, Java, Python, Go or similar languages
    • Multiple AWS services like SNS, Lambda, SQS, S3, Secrets Manager etc.
    • Build and Release pipelines
    • Knowledge of GraphQL is a plus
    • Knowledge of graph databases (Labeled Property or RDF) and SPARQL is a plus
  • Experience writing and reviewing detailed Technical Design Documents (TDDs) is a plus
